A great knot that I use on the Great Lakes for so many applications and line types. Works well with the heavy mono or fluorocarbon leader material for flies behind a dodger or flasher (40 to 50 lb.). With braid, I tie a standard Palomar and make sure I pull both the main line and the tag end TIGHT. I then tie a simple overhand knot on the tag end and slide it up close to the knot before clipping. Even after pulling dipseys with 30 lb. Power Pro, I've never had a knot slip to the overhand tag. That's how important it is to pull your tag end tight on any knot. I'll try the double the next time I have to tie a braid knot because it would sure simplify things. Thanks for the tip.

I use 20 lb original power pro so what weight leader should I use ? I have 8 lb cheap fluoro that I use for trout fishing but I don't think that is enough.

Does it make that much of a difference using two overhand knots instead of one? I have never tried doing it with two!

Thanks Joshua….I will be doing that now. I've just been tying a regular ole Palomar knot with my braid. Actually lost a nice fish about a month ago thinking it cut me off on the oysters, but now……

Nice trick to know. However, when would one tie braided directly to the hook? I haven't been fishing long so I don't know. But from what I've been told braid cuts too easy number one and number two some say the fish can see the braided over mono. Is any of this true?

They are Great, although I admit I get a lil jealous watching them!!! You make me want to get out more though. MY problems with commenting is I think I am boring you with everything I want to write (case in point). God Bless you and the family Sir! 🎣
