Am I the first one the freak out after putting braided line on my baitcaster? I was not happy after putting this line on. Lucky for me I found the Abu Garcia website the next day and I was rescued. I’m good now.

Nice vid OD5! Thanks for providing step by step procedure for spooling braid on a baitcaster. The backing is critical or you the braid will not bite onto spool. Once the mono backing is spooled the braid has something to bite in to. Some use electrical tape, masking tape, or what not…. but mono is just as cheap and will bite better.

I've been a saltwater guy for years, but now I live inland So Cal and closer to lakes and reservoirs.
I'm getting into freshwater fishing and going after Cats and Striper…why?…'cause there damn good eating!!!
Just bought a new Abu 6600 C4 and will be spooling with 30# Power pro with a stop shot of 30# floro. This should be the ticket for this smooth reel.

OD5…where do you reside and fish?

I have to ask. Is that a spinning rod? with a baitcaster reel?

It also helps as filler. Braid is thin. If you don't put proper line capacity on your retrieve is screwed up.

Nice vid! Another way to do it is to put a piece of duct tape on your spool and just put the braid strait on it. The tape will keep it from spinning! I use that method on my spinning reels.
