Thanks mate for the well presented tutorial. We're a family of total novices, just bought our rods and tackle for Fathers day, so it's got us going. nice diagram of the rig. There's allot of complex advanced fish stuff on the web but this was exactly what we were looking for.

Why are you polluting the water with those tag lines??? I really hate people that litter when out fishing! Those people should really not be outdoors until they learn to respect it…

I use this rig all the time at my local lake. At the river I keep getting hung up on the rocks. This is pretty much the only rig I use. What rig should I use to get my hook off of the bottom?

It's a great way to fish especially with friends and family when you just want to relax and not be constantly casting and reeling. Thanks for stopping by and commenting.

I've heard of people even using similar things like those little ear syringe things. It doesnt even need to have a needle depending on the size of worm. I prefer using a floating jig head myself.

Lmao, they sell them at bait stores. I think Gander Mtn. carries them. They're called Magic Worm Blowers, just Google: Magic Worm Blowers, they really don't look like a medical syringe. Its just a small bottle with a syringe needle on top of it to blow the air into the worm, you'll see lol.
To air them up you just put the needle in about a 1/2inch from the head press air in then repeat down the length of the worm, super easy to do.
Also killer to use for Catfish & a drift rig in deep water.

I've never fished smack on the bottom before, but lately I've been thinking about it as I see guys doing it on YouTube. So this is just the ticket for me! Thanks for the great illustration and explanation!

Hah! I've never heard of that but I could see how it could work. Where do you get your syringe and where do insert the air and how much? DNR would probably be like what the heck do you have a syringe for lol.

It's a great rig, works good in the summer for walleyes when they're deep. I often use this rig with a night crawler aired up with a syringe so it both floats off the bottom & makes sound from the air leaking out. That aired up worm works great for small mouth in the summer & brown trout in the fall.
