    What's this closing the bail with your hand? No need for that. If your accurate enough you just start reeling. I use my spinning reel for skipping my lures underneath docks and trees. When you have your lure where you want it just give your reel a good little jolt and it'll close itself. That way (if you're running underwater lures like jigs, rooster tails, spinners, buzzers, etc) your lure don't have enough time to drop and catch on any underwater structures i.e trees, rocks, posts, and submerged docks. When I was little I just used the yard to practice my aim and a kiddy pool to practice my skipping.
