Hey Luke i know you got alot of questions from viewer's but i was wondering what your thoughts are on hook set ratios and weight. Like
I was taught the least amount of weight is best like freeline. Ive been fishing some spots with current so ive been using slip sinkers but i think the fish feel the weight before they excert enough energy to move my pole tip.
I was out fishing a fast river behind a log i watched the fish come out pick the bait up and spit it out before my pole tip moved and if i hadnt seen it i would have never known it was chewing on my bait. It was extremely fast water with snags and deep holes everywhere i had better luck catching fish with a few slip shot and drifting it into holes than slip sinker but i also got way more snags trying to control it. When using a break away rig do u want ur line tight with alot of weight? Or just enough to keep it on the bottom?

I'm testing different catfish rigs that will work for leapord sharks, planning a visit to California soon. I made a high low rig that's 5ft, from the mainline swivel to the 4oz lead and two 18" wire leaders. Caught two 9-10 pound catfish in one go, amazing. Was a pain to cast on a 7ft rod though. Lol

hopefully someone can answer this question: do some fishing reels have to have a full load of string on them to work properly? have a zebco 202 and when I unwound old string to replace, the inner spool was completely filled. it is a light action rod. thanks for help. love your videos.

Would this rig work? Im a new fisherman basically. If not could you help me make it work, because id like to catfish without getting snags. I mean its much nicer to fish if i loose a weight then if i lose a hook under water… and i dont have a boat to troll a lure. It looks as though the santee cooper rig would just float straight up if there is no current. The idea is that the float will aid in picking up a current when there virtually is none

Catfish (non-trolling):take your main line and tie a 3 point swivel to it. On one of the points is your main line, the other is a weight, and the other is your bait and a float. Make sure to keep your weight line weaker then all the other lines. As a general rule of thumb take account for the length the weight line is and the length of your bait and float line. The bait and float line should be half the length of the weight line. This way, if the float line is half the length, your float will keep the bait from touching the ground. Also take into account how buoyant your bobber is and the depth you want it to sit at. The deeper you want it to sit the more weight you need to add to keep your line from touching the bottom of the water. Ik there is probably a ratio to determine your sinking weight, float buoyancy, and float weight, but i dont know it. I plan on tieing a seperate piece of line around my float and adding split shot weights to it, to adjust buoyancy. For deeper water its best to use longer line lengths. This will help keep your bait right above seaweed. The float will slide down the line with the current.

Seriously someone help me figure out this ratio…!!!

I think its possible to use an impact sheild in this rig if you wanted
