In this fishing tips video, I showed Samantha how to tie the Albright Knot. This is my choice of knot when connecting braided fishing line to monofilament fishing line. There are many knots out there in the fishing world but this is the one I use when connecting my leaders to braided fishing line.

A lot of people use the FG knot, Clench knot, and Uni to Uni knots when saltwater and freshwater fishing. These knots will work on anything from Large Mouth Bass to Redfish to Tarpon.

The Albright knot is the way to go for sure! I hooked and landed a 43" bull redfish down in Grand Isle Louisiana back in 2013 on my 6.6 UglyStickLITE/Shimano Sienna rig spooled with 10# PowerPro braid connected to 10#Berkeley BigGame mono via Albright. This knot was tied at least 6 months prior and landed many Oregon bottom fish over and over. All from kayak BTW.
Yes that bull redfish was a beast and almost spooled me 3 times. Thank God for the Hobie Mirage drive, allowing me to chase it down.

First, I enjoy most of your videos. I also like the Albright knot demonstrated in this video. Take a look at the "FG" knot. I find it a little more difficult to tie, but much smoother through the guides and super strong. In mid-August we hooked a Tarpon in Pensacola Bay on 20# braid on a Finn Nor ultralight reel and 6'6" St. Croix rod. 40# fluorocarbon connected to 80# fluorocarbon (we were running and gunning for Spanish) when we hooked the tarpon. We had him alongside 3 times, and three times he took off when he saw the boat. Lost him in the end … Hook was fine and no knots slipped.. just lost him. Anyway, the moral of the story is the FG worked perfectly as did the double uni-knots on the fluorocarbon. Use a little "Zap" glue and never have to worry.

Video how quickly and conveniently tie knot.
If you get bad. Bad weather, a strong wind. cold, gloved hands.
Thumbs or difficult with age. Video on Russian, but you will understand everything. Look to the end.

Use toe nail clippers to cut your line. If it has a hole in the end it can double as a tool to hold your hook as you tighten the knot on your hook.

Thanks for this. I will be kayak fishing the Outer Banks in NC tomorrow and this knot looks easier than trying to tie the double uni-knot.
