Hey Dan I build rods at United Composites . You did not mention what type of rods you recomend just the reels. Let me ask you this. Can you get a 250 lbs Bluefin to the boat with only the reels you are mentioning?

Hi dan. What is the type of conventional reel you are showing on your 40lb all around . Plus, do you ever use braided lines when fishing tuna vs. mono.

Say you're going with 60lb braid, how long of the 40lb leader should you use? Or can you also put say 300 yards (Avet JX, Raptor) braid and 100 yards 40lb top-shot? Which way would be best? Thanks

Hey Dan, writing from socal here. I already have a penn jig master 500s that I'm gonna spool with 20lb. Now I'm looking for a bit beefier rig for YT, probably 30#+. Any good combos you would suggest for under 200$ (on a tight budget). I've been looking at the Penn Squall and Warfare but I m afraid the Warfare might be too light. What would yo recommend? Again, I'm just looking for a general rod/reel that can add some strength when the jig master is too light. Thanks 🙂

This is a great resource for new anglers and for experienced anglers to revisit from time to time.

Awesome Vids Dan! Im still learning and was wondering, your 40# setup is a 65# spectra backing with 40# fluoro. when you pick a rod for it, I see line weight on the fishing poles, do you pick the rod that supports the 65# braid line or the 40# top shot?

I am think of using spinning reel. I was wondering how to set hook on spinning as compare to to baicast as baitcast i jus let it free spool and once the line went out faster i jus lock my baitcast. But of spinning i will be different.
