I took 10 big river catfishing rods on the James river with catfishing guide Chris Eberwein to test out these big catfish rods and we see how these rod perform throwing huge leads and huge bait for big catfish in big rivers.

How's the anti-reverse on the ming yangs? Is it close to the Abu's I don't like any rock back on the crank reel.

Hey Luke, I just wanted to thank you for the Catfish rod and reel review series on your channel. I watched it when you first released it and loved it! I recently moved to Myrtle Beach from upstate New York so I referred back to your reviews to find a good rig to catch the Blue Catfish here in SC that I didn't have access to in NY. With fishing reports showing blues landed in the intercoastal waterway ranging from an average of 30#'s and a rare over 70#'s I wanted a nice setup that would handle the trophies if I hooked them. I think I've made up my mind and I want to go with the Cat Maxx rod and the Ming Yang reel. How has this set up fared in the long run? Thank you again so much for these reviews and EVERYTHING you've taught me about fishing for cats and carp. -Charlie M

Could it be that the Kastking is missing the "C" lock ring clamp on the handle drive shaft or spool gear allowing the gears to become un meshed? did you ever track down the problem? edit: i mean the E clamp ring

Lol I use the Penn Battle 2 8000 with the 10 ft heavy action. It's a bit of an over kill though since it's for saltwater. The reel holds 475 yds of 50 lb braid and I use 80 lb mono as a leader. It works out for me.

I am starting to buy some catfish and carp gear after watching your channel. I have bought a BnM silver cat magnum Pro rod and am trying to decide which reel to get. is there much difference in the Mingyang CL60 and the MC600? Thanks!

So you've had the rods in this video for a while and fished with them. Out of these, if you had to pick the top three, (price not being a factor), to fish with knowing you're not always catching monsters, which would be your top choice? Having both the ability to land big fish and still be fun with some smaller catches.
