The Arbor Knot is the only knot I use to tie to my reels, spinning or baitcaster it works on both really well. I use the Arbor not for all type of finishing line, however if I’m tying braid directly to the reel I will use electrical tape to keep the braid from slipping on the spool. all other fishing line I tie directly to the spool.

I wrote this for someone trying to learn Canadian Jam Knot NOT an Arbor Knot, but it shows that you are tying a Canadian Jam Knot NOT an Arbor Knot.
shows a "Canadian Jam Knot" Which to me is no more than "a Slip Knot with an overhand back up" But is re-illustrated in the following "TIP OR TRICK THE JAM KNOT"
This one, at this time slot shows the secret, where the Back-up Overhand Knot binds against the running end of the rope so it can't be pulled back into the knot UNLESS you pull the free end. That's what frees the binding aspect of the "jam". "The Arbor Knot" Also said to be and confused with a jam type knot
At this time frame(I had to run it at 1/4 speed to see it) you can see the running end and the tail end are going thru the loop IN OPPOSITE DIRECTIONS, so the overhand JAM KNOT cannot bind against the running end(because there is a rope in-between them) and in such a way as to prevent the BIND if it was to occur, because it would BIND AS TO PREVENT THE RUNNING END FROM GOING INTO THE LOOP, NOT OUT!
a little later in this vid you can see the running end and the free end are going thru the loop in opposite directions and that's what prevents the proper bind.

Great info POV. I have been doing this wrong. I will use this next year when putting new line on the spools. Good presentation too. I was able to see very well with the green line and black background. Fish on!
