This is an instructional video on how to fish with wet flies brought to you from http://holsingersflyshop.com. Wet fly fishing is a very productive method of fishing that is often overlooked and and rarely taught anymore with the success of nymph fishing and the visual excitement of dry fly fishing. When I was originally taught to fly fish nearly 30 years ago wet fly fishing was the method I learned and fished fished for many years. I hope this video helps you understand the sport a little better and thanks for watching.

Thanks for the video, the difference between nymphs and wets was a little confusing for me as a beginner. This technique seems similar to fishing nymphs, could you explain how it may differ in casting and presentation. Also, do you ever use a strike indicator with wet flies? Thanks again!!

This is really helpful. I went out and tried it after watching this video. It worked well for smallmouth bass here in Michigan. Thanks!

Would this replace nymph fishing if you only had to choose one style? Also, when fishing multiple flies are they all the same size?Happy New Year, Mike

That's the secret, roll cast the line with the right hand then place the rod in your left hand, look away and forget about it, then you get a take.

but could u catch the same amount of fish on just one wet fly? I'm new to wet fly fishing but have been fly fishing for 11 years and it's seems like having 3 or so would just get tangled?

It's very refreshing to see down-and-across wet fly fishing with a team of flies (which was the first technique I was shown as a youngster nearly 60 years ago in Yorkshire) presented to a modern audience. It is an amazingly effective technique and great for beginners.  Your emphasis on the need to mend the line to deal with the effect of the current(s) and mimic the emerging insect is "spot on" and shows that in skilled hands it should not be dismissed as a "chuck-it-and-chance it" technique.
